ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the value of shear wave elastography (SWE) for diagnosis of sural neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods:From September to December, 2017, 119 patients with T2DM were divided into diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) group (n = 61) and non-DPN group (n = 58) according to the diagnosic criteria. In the same period, other 60 healthy volunteers were also recruited as normal group. They were measured the thickness, width, circumference and cross-sectional area of sural nerve, as well as the Young's modulus and shear wave velocity (SWV) with SWE. Based on the results of electrophysiology, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn to determine the cut-off of the Young's modulus and SWV to differentiate DPN from non-DPN, and their area under the curve was compared. Results:The thickness of sural nerve was more in DPN group than in the normal group (P < 0.05). There were significant differences among all the groups in width, cross-sectional area, circumference, Young's modulus and SWV of sural nerves (P < 0.05). For SWE image, it was yellow-green for DPN group, dark blue for non-DPN group, and uniform light blue for the normal group. The cut-off was 51.65 kPa for Young's modulus, with the area under the curve of 0.925, sensitivity of 86.9% and specificity of 89.7%; while it was 4.15 m/s for SWV, with the area under curve of 0.923, specificity of 89.7% and sensitivity of 85.2%. The diagnostic efficiency for DPN was similar between Young's modulus and SWV (Z = 0.556, P = 0.579). Conclusion:SWE can provide useful information for clinical diagnosis of sural neuropathy after T2DM.

ABSTRACT

The content of elements in fifteen different regions of Nitraria roborowskii samples were determined by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry(ICP-OES), and its elemental characteristics were analyzed by principal component analysis. The results indicated that 18 mineral elements were detected in N. roborowskii of which V cannot be detected. In addition, contents of Na, K and Ca showed high concentration. Ti showed maximum content variance, while K is minimum. Four principal components were gained from the original data. The cumulative variance contribution rate is 81.542% and the variance contribution of the first principal component was 44.997%, indicating that Cr, Fe, P and Ca were the characteristic elements of N. roborowskii. Thus, the established method was simple, precise and can be used for determination of mineral elements in N.roborowskii Kom. fruits. The elemental distribution characteristics among N.roborowskii fruits are related to geographical origins which were clearly revealed by PCA. All the results will provide good basis for comprehensive utilization of N.roborowskii.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the protective effects of Yuyin Ruangan Decoction(YRD, traditional Chinese medicine) on experimental hepatic injury in mice.

METHODSThe mice were randomly divided into control group, model group and YRD low, middle and high dose group(n = 11). By ip injection of D-GalN, CCk or thioacetamide (TAA), three models of hepatic injury mice were established to investigate the effects of YRD through detecting the indexes of liver function in serum and, the content of antioxidant system in the hepatic tissue.

RESULTSYRD could decrease the content of alanine aminotransferase (ALT)and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in serum and that of malonaldehyde (MDA) in the hepatic tissue, upregulate the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) in the hepatic tissue. Furthermore, the above effects were dosedependent in a certain degree. CoNCLUSION: YRD has some protection effects on the model of experimental hepatic injury in mouse.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the detection rate of early esophageal carcinoma using magnifying endoscopy, and to evaluate the relationship between the imaging patterns of microvasculature change and his- tological diagnosis. Methods Two hundred and fourteen patients with esophageal mucosa roughness,ero- sion, plaque, abnormal color and indentation in conventional endoscopy and 16 healthy volunteers were en- rolled. The magnifying endoscopy images were graded as four patterns by intraepithelial papillary capillary loop(IPCL)changes after iodine dyeing. The biopsies underwent pathologic evaluation. The comparison be- tween the imaging patterns of endoscopy and histological diagnosiswas was evaluated. Results 80.4%(90/ 112)esophagitis was type 2,and 85.7%(12/14)early esophageal carcinoma was type 3 and type 4.The difference was significant between early esophageal carcinoma and normal mueosa(?~2=27.32,P
